Dorothy “Dot” Wiley Thomas, 88, of Palmetto, passed away, surrounded by her family, on April 7, 2017 at Manatee Memorial Hospital in Bradenton, Florida.

Dorothy was born in Bradenton to Ralph L. and Laurette L. Wiley.  She attended Ballard Elementary and graduated from Manatee High School.  Residing in Manatee County her entire life she had a tremendous love and appreciation for the surrounding beauty and nature of the area.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her treasured siblings: Francis W. Hamilton, Frank W. Wiley, Ralph E. Wiley and her cherished twin, Barbara W. Wiley.

Dorothy is survived and adored by her five children and their spouses: son Samuel H. Thomas II and his wife Bonnie, daughter Vicky L. Odem and her husband Steve, son Steven L. Thomas and his wife Kathy, son Donald J. Thomas and his wife Sheryl, daughter Susan E. Hague and her husband Chuck; her grandchildren, Sammy Thomas, David Thomas, Ryan Thomas, Heather Thomas, Amy Odem Smith, Anna Odem, Emily Thomas, Alexandra Thomas, Stephanie Thomas, Kelsey Thomas, Cory Thomas, Amber Thomas, Carrieann Hague Smith, Kimberly Hague Grotz, Chuckie Hague, and Becky Hague Tripp; and 24 great grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter; her dear sister-in-law Jeanne Wiley and 16 nieces and nephews, all of whom she dearly loved.

Our Mom, “Grandma”,  “Grandma Dot”, “Aunt Dorothy”, “Dorothy”, “Dot” will be greatly missed and a welcome companion to her loving husband Harlin and her siblings as they are reunited in God’s presence.

The family will receive friends and family on Friday, April 28, 2017 at Palmetto Presbyterian Church for a time of visiting from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. with a service to follow.  A Celebration of Life will continue at Emerson Point Preserve with a picnic and a time of fellowship and sharing.  Burial will be at Gillette Cemetery on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 11:00 a.m.
