Donald “Donnie” Dean Ellerbee, age 56, of Parrish, Florida was called home to his savior Friday, April 30th, 2021 from St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tampa, Florida.
His laughter and zest for life will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Donnie is survived by his daughters, for whom he had unconditional love, Candis (James) and Brandi. Their 4 beautiful children, Carter, Grayson, Margot, and Beatrice made him an incredibly proud Papa. He is also survived by his loving mother, Margarete Arlen and siblings Evelyn (Charles) Patricia, Margaret (Gary), and Earl Jr. “Rowdy” (Klyna).
Donnie leaves this Earth for a heavenly reunion with his father, Earl Eugene (Gene), and sister Gwendolyn Jean (Jeanie).
Donnie was born on May 23, 1964 in Punta Gorda, Florida. As a young adult, he worked alongside his father Gene and brother Rowdy in the family business, Ardco Air Conditioning, Inc. Donnie ventured into real estate before moving to Arcadia, Florida, in 1994. He soon returned to his roots in HVAC and founded Arctic Air of DeSoto in 1997. He spent the next several years focused on being a family man and developing his business.
In 2003, Donnie was motivated to extend his operations into Sarasota County and renamed the company, Arctic Air of S.W. FL. Inc. In 2009, Donnie was able to reach even greater heights with friend and business partner, Scott Whitaker, forming Arctic Air Services, Inc. as it exists today and several other specialty home service companies since.
Donnie was an avid outdoorsman and accomplished tournament fisherman. Donnie lived to fish, and when he wasn’t at home you could typically find him on the water.
Donnie’s love of life and people kept him engaged with his family and his community. When Donnie walked into the room, you felt kindness, compassion, and the love he had for others. If you were lucky enough to receive a hug, you knew it was genuine. Donnie may have left this Earth, but his legacy and impact will continue to touch the lives of those who knew him for many years. His sweet soul will be missed.
A service to celebrate Donnie’s life will be held on Wednesday May 12, 2021 at Veterans Hall at the Manatee County Fairgrounds. Family will receive visitors from 3:00-4:00pm, with a ceremony beginning at 4:00p. Light refreshments will be provided.
Please join this family as we lift them in prayer and celebrate the life of a wonderful man.
