Deputy Fire Chief Larry Stewart, B.F.D. - Retired

Deputy Fire Chief Larry Stewart, B.F.D.-Retired, 80, Bradenton, passed away October 5, 2016.

Larry was born July 25, 1936 in Rives Junction, Michigan to the late William and Donna Stewart. He has been a resident of Manatee County for over 59 years.

He served with the National Guard following the Korean Conflict. Larry was retired from the Bradenton Fire Department with over 30 years of service, retiring at the rank of Deputy Fire Chief. He also attended the Ss. Peter & Paul the Apostles Catholic Church in Bradenton.

Chief Stewart was predeceased by his two wives, Betty Jo in 1986 and Diane in 2016, brother, Neal, sister Doris and a grandson, Ryan. Survived by his five children; Gary (Kathy) Stewart of Warsaw, KY, Greg and Mark (Catherine) Stewart of Bradenton, Lynn (Deborah) Stewart of Myakka City, James (Kelly) Jordan of Bradenton, two daughters; Joanne (Eddie) Ranft of Myakka City, Jennifer (Chester) Filanowski of Palmetto, twenty grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and many extended family members and friends.

The family will receive friends from 4-6 P.M. on Sunday, October 9, 2016 at Shannon Funeral Home Westview Chapel, 5610 Manatee Avenue W., Bradenton. A celebration of Deputy Chief Stewart’s life will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, October 10, 2016 at Shannon Funeral Home Westview Chapel. Interment will be private at Palma Sola Cemetery, Bradenton.
