Dennis Paul Tabor

Dennis Paul Tabor, 96, of Bradenton, Florida passed away November 14, 2019.

He was born in Olive Hill, Kentucky on September 26, 1923 to Florence Ross and Edgar Tabor. He was the youngest of nine children. During the Second World War, Paul served in the United States Marine Corps and fought with the 1st Marine Division, 7th Regiment under the command of Colonel Chesty Puller. He was wounded in combat on Peleliu Island and Okinawa.

Following the war, he used the GI Bill to learn his life long trade. He worked as a highly skilled carpenter and remodeling contractor in Ashland, Kentucky for many years. Paul was married to Ruth Mae Allen on April 12, 1951. Paul and Ruth worked hard to raise their children and provide them with fine educations. They enjoyed many years of retirement in Kenansville, Florida before moving to Bradenton in 2006. They loved to fish and travel across the United States and Canada.

Paul was a fine Christian man. He was a quiet and humble person but made friends easily due to his quick smile and eagerness to help others . He loved to eat and was spoiled by his wife with good home cooking and abundant desserts.

Paul will be missed by his wife of 68 years, Ruth Allen Tabor, his daughter Ann Tabor Day and her husband Michael Day, his son David and his wife Susanne, his grandchildren Sara Tabor Simonds(Cameron), Katie Ellen Tabor, Todd Jacob Tabor and Elizabeth Day Austin(Jason), and his great-granddaughter Lily Virginia Simonds.

The family will hold a private graveside service at Fogartyville Cemetery with Dr. Samuel Wright of First Church Sarasota officiating. The family requests no flowers.
