Swedick, Deborah A. Ellenton, Fla.
Deborah (Debbie) A. Swedick, 66, suddenly passed away on February 7, 2023. Debbie was a lifelong resident of the Town of Colonie, and she spent the last two years in Florida after retiring as a Buyer for the Town of Colonie in 2021.
Born in Naples Italy on November 17, 1956 at the Naval Base Hospital, but raised in Cohoes, NY, she was the beloved daughter of John P. Swedick and Ann T (Donovan) Swedick.
Debbie graduated from Shaker High School, and went right to work for the family business of Swedick & Donovan General Contractors, Inc. Over the years Debbie held several positions. She was a realtor, owner of small businesses, such as a daycare, beach pavilion, an ice cream shop, laundromat and professional cleaning business. Her favorite roles were being a mother, sister, aunt and friend to everyone she knew.
Debbie loved shopping, doing her crafts, but her favorite hobby was her gardening. She had a green thumb like no other. At the end of her day she loved sitting out on her lanai with her fiancé David, their friends and watching the sunset. Anyone who knew Debbie knew that she loved to talk. We will all miss those 2 hour conversations, and she made the best potato salad, even if it took her 8 hours to make. She was a member of Hope Club of the Capital Region, and helped several people working though cancer being a breast and lung cancer survivor herself. Debbie was the mommy bear to everyone she loved, and watched over her clubs like no other. To know Debbie was a privilege, and honor. She had a smile that would light up a room, and a laugh that was contagious. Debbie is predeceased by her parents John P. & Ann T. Swedick, brother John P. Swedick Jr., first husband John Breault, and her second husband Christopher Whitham.
Debbie is survived by her son Joshua, her fiance David Renadette, her brothers Joseph M (Carol) Swedick of Waterford, NY, Andrew J (Dana) Swedick of Mechanicville, NY, and her sisters Jacqueline A (Darren King) Swedick of Waterford, NY, and Sherry A (Jamie) Hill of Latham, NY. Along with several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews & grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held on February 25, in St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, 175 Williams Rd.,Troy, NY at 10am. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Hope Club of the Capital Region, an organization that Debbie was not only a member of, but a recipient of their assistance in her time of need.
