David Myron Mclauchlin

David McLauchlin (89) of Bradenton, FL, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2024 surrounded by his family. He was born in Michigan to Myron and Irene (Clark) McLauchlin. Dave graduated from the University of Detroit High School and Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture and Applied Science. His career in dairy manufacturing started with Michigan Milk Producers Dairy in Sebewaing, Michigan, and plant management positions with the Kroger Company dairy plants in Marion, Indiana and Cincinnati, Ohio. In 1972, he accepted a position as manager of Tropicana’s carton juice filling operation and moved his family to Bradenton, Florida. His desire to operate his own business led him to partner with colleague and friend Donald Bowron. They purchased a bottled water company which eventually became Water Boy, Inc. in 1973. For 51 years at Water Boy, Dave worked to grow the Company and made many lasting friendships with employees and business associates.

Dave is survived by his son, Scott (Ping) McLauchlin, daughter Suzanne (Mike Amado) McLauchlin, grandchildren, Evan, Lily, Emily, step granddaughter, Crystal (Nick) Kucharski of Boynton Beach and step great grandson Cannon. He is preceded in death by his parents, Myron and Irene McLauchlin, wife, Betty and son, Mark McLauchlin. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He will be deeply missed.

Dave enjoyed learning to play the banjo, attending bluegrass festivals, traveling with his family, and camping in many State and National Parks. Dave also enjoyed gardening, building things, reading, had a love of antique cars, and playing Bridge with friends. Dave was a member of Hope Lutheran Church for over 50 years. He enjoyed serving the church and the many lifelong friends he met there.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at 11 a.m. The service will be held at Hope Lutheran Church 4635 26th St. W. Bradenton, FL.
