Daniel J. Mahoney, Sr., 94 of Longboat Key, passed away July 28, 2016
Dan was born on May 8, 1922 in the lower east side of New York City to the late Stephen and Elizabeth (Crotty) Mahoney. He served during WWII with the United States Army in the Pacific. After the war he met and married the love of his life, Viola, with whom he was happily married for 64 years.
He and Viola made their home in Colonia, NJ, where he was Vice-President of Sales of Medical and Industrial gases and equipment for Liquid Carbonic. After his retirement he moved in 2005 to Longboat Key with his wife and son.
Dan was predeceased by his beloved wife Viola in June of 2011, and is survived by his son, Daniel J. Mahoney, Jr., granddaughter; Jenifer, grandson; Daniel, two great-grandchildren; Sophia and Leo, and many extended family members and friends.
Military honors will be rendered for Dan at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at the V.F.W. Post 10141, 5105 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, August 4, 2016 at the St. Mary, Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 4280 Gulf of Mexico Drive, Longboat Key- All family and friends are welcome. Private inurnment will take place at a later date at Sarasota National Cemetery.
The family request that in lieu of flowers that memorials be made to the V.F.W. Post 10141 in Dan's memory.
