Cathryn Hanlin

Cathryn Louise Hanlin, 96, passed away on Saturday, January 7th, 2023, surrounded by family, in Bradenton, Florida. She was born on December 19th, 1926, in Detroit, Michigan. She is the daughter of the late Helen Louise (McFee) Smith and James Dalton Smith.


Cathryn retired from Oakwood Hospital in Dearborn, Michigan and moved to Florida in the early eighties. She was happily married to Charles Lee Hanlin for 50 years, who preceded her in death. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, sister and friend.


She loved going to church, reading, golfing, traveling, dancing and spending time with her family and friends.


Cathryn is survived by her son, Gary Hanlin (Marg), her two daughters, Rane Sessions (Bill) and Gwen DeTone (Lewis, preceded her in death), she is also survived by her grandchildren, Grant Hanlin, Damian Harmony, Gregory Hanlin (Kim), Bowie Sessions (Lynn), Luigi DeTone (Karen), Giovanni DeTone, Amy Heflin (Kevin), Sara Figueroa (Ryan) and her 13 great grandchildren.


A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 27th, 2023 at 11am, at Church of the Annunciation, 4408 Gulf Drive, Holmes Beach, Florida 34217.


Interment of her ashes will take place in June at Oakland Hills Memorial Gardens in Novi, Michigan.


In memory of Cathryn Hanlin, donations can be made to Feeding Empty Little Tummies (F.E.L.T.), or Church of the Annunciation, in Holmes Beach, Florida.
