Bobby S. Swicegood, 87, Anna Maria, passed away December 9, 2015.
Bobby was born June 11, 1928 in Salisbury, NC. He served with the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. Following his military service he moved to Richmond, VA to work with Southern Railway and was later transferred to Atlanta, GA. He spent 41years with the railroad before retiring to Anna Maria, FL in 1988.
After retiring to Florida, he and his wife, Joyce of 46 years, took pleasure in traveling all over the world. When not traveling he looked forward to taking friends and family out fishing to his special spots. He was also known as “Grandpa” when visiting the Kirby Stewart American Legion Post, where he has a veteran tile honoring him for his service to this country that he was so proud of.
Bobby was predeceased by a daughter, Paula White, 2 brothers and 3 sisters. He is survived by his wife Joyce Swicegood of Anna Maria, three daughters; Bonnie (Keith) Pitchford of Tellico Plains, TN, Patti (Bill) Vannice of Somerset, CO, Leslie (Jerry) Cash of Anna Maria, son, Brian (Johnna) Swicegood of Atlanta, GA, brother, Jack (Peg) Swicegood, sister, Betty Cruise both of Salisbury, NC, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and many extended family members and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Monday, December 21, 2015 at St. Bernard Catholic Church, Holmes Beach with inurnment to follow in the Memorial Garden. Military honors to be rendered by the U.S. Navy Honor Detail.
The family request that in lieu of flowers that memorials be made to TideWell Hospice in his memory.
