Bob Pollitt was born in Dayton, Ohio, on February 21, 1935, and he left this world peacefully at the Bay Pines Veteran's Hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida, on December 29, 2024.
For the past three a half years, Bob had made Clearwater, Florida, his home.
Preceded in death by his beloved parents, Arthur and Goldie Pollitt, as well as his siblings Betty Thompson, Paul Pollitt, and Janet Cardwell, his granddogs, Millie, Bella, and Mazzie.
He leaves behind a loving family that includes his children: Monica Smith, Michelle Ayars, Bob Pollitt, and Melanie Shirkey, along with his granddog Mylie. Bob was a proud grandfather to Natalie, Megan, Ashley, and Brandon, and cherished the time spent with his great-grandchildren: Alexis, Clayton, Foster, Autumn, and his great-great-grandchild, Andre. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Bob served his country honorably in the Navy from 1954 to 1958, aboard the USS Iowa. He loved to attend Navy reunions, where he connected with fellow veterans. Additionally, Bob was a member of the Friendship Force for many years. He was fortunate enough travel to many different countries and experience cultures around the world.
Life was a joy for Bob, and he embraced every moment. Known for his warmth and kindness, he was the best dad and papaw anyone could ask for, touching the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know him. His generous spirit enriched the lives of many and he will be greatly missed.
Bob will be laid to rest with military honors at Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State Rd 72, Sarasota, FL, on Monday, January 6, 2025 at 10:00 am.
