Bertha N Pence

Bertha N. Pence (affectionately known as Kitty) died, with family at her side, on Saturday, November 24, 2018 in Bradenton, Florida.

The only child of Vurlen and Kenneth Sigler, she grew up in Elwood, Indiana. She married Michael Pence and traveled coast-to-coast while he was in the United States Air Corps, before his work with GE took them to DeKalb, Illinois where daughters Barbara and Nancy we're born. Over the years with GE, they lived in Illinois, Tennessee, Iowa, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Singapore, and Brazil. Making friends came easily, especially through church memberships. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist. Kitty played golf, was an avid reader, an excellent bridge partner, and regaled friends with tales of her world travels. She loved her family dearly. And she loved to dance. After all, she took 14-year-Nancy to see the Beatles in concert!

She is preceded in death by husband Mike and daughters Barbara and Nancy.

She is survived by granddaughter Margo (Scott) and son-in-law David, and cousin David (Barbara) Abernathy of Elwood, IN.

Interment will be in Elwood Cemetery, Elwood, Indiana.

A celebration of her life will be held at Freedom Village in Bradenton at a later date.

Memorial donations can be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, in memory of Bertha N. Pence.
