Basil L. Worl, 92 of St. Petersburg, Florida passed away on May 3,2023 with his wife, Sallie by his side. Born in May 1930, Basil had been a Florida resident by way of Indiana for many decades.
He completed a bachelor's degree from Indiana University entering Officer Training School with the United States Army. He served during the Korean Conflict obtaining the rank of 1st Lt. then returned home to his family and held a successful 41 year career as an Industrial Engineer at General Motors. During that time, he received a master’s degree from Ball State University.
After retirement, he responded to 17 natural disasters with the American Red Cross, served as a Stephen Minister and Crown Financial advisor, a Salvation Army bell ringer for 40 plus years, and volunteered with Habitat for Humanity. Basil was a member of Grace Bible Church and follower of Jesus Christ.
Surviving Basil is his loving wife, Sara “Sallie”, his daughters Cynthia K. (Michael) Fuhrman, Susan I. Bayley, his son Mark Worl (Starr), two stepsons Robert Magee (Belinda), Donald Magee (Ann), and stepdaughter Elizabeth Grate (Steve). He shares with his wife nine grandchildren, and sixteen great grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Service to be held Saturday, May 27th at 4:00pm at Grace Bible Church, St. Petersburg, FL.
Interment with military honors will be at Bay Pines National Cemetery May 26th at 2:15pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be directed to Samaritan’s Purse and Grace Bible Church in Basil's name.
