Barbara S. Johnson, aged 81, a cherished resident of Bradenton, Florida, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2024. Born in Headland, Alabama, on October 23, 1942, Barbara's journey through life was marked by an unwavering commitment to her family, her faith, and her community.
Barbara's love for her family was the cornerstone of her life. She found immense joy in cooking, reading, and creating countless cherished memories during family vacations at Lake Rabun, Georgia. Her role as a caregiver extended beyond her family, as she became a spiritual mentor to many. Her gentle guidance and wise counsel touched numerous lives in profound ways.
A devoted member of Hope Lutheran Church in Bradenton, Barbara dedicated much of her time and energy to volunteering in various capacities within the church and her community. Her selflessness and compassion were beacons of hope and inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Grenville and Doris Paramore; her beloved son, Ricky; and her siblings, Martha J. Paramore, James Paramore, and Joyce A. Culbreath. Her enduring legacy lives on through her husband of nearly 65 years, John Hubert Johnson, and their children: John Robert Johnson (Patti), Michael A. Johnson (Judy), Cindee Meek, and Trevor P. Johnson (Heather). Barbara was a proud and loving grandmother to 10 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Her memory will also be cherished by a host of extended family members and friends, all of whom she loved dearly.
A graveside service to honor and celebrate Barbara's life will be held on Friday, January 26 at 2:00 p.m. at Skyway Memorial Gardens in Palmetto. The family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hope Lutheran Church.
Barbara S. Johnson's life was a testament to the power of love, faith, and service. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those she touched.
