Barbara Pratt

October 9, 1922 — April 17, 2018

Barbara T. Pratt, 95, of Bradenton, passed away at home on Tuesday, April 17, 2018.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Richard Pratt, her two daughters, Barbara and Cynthia Pratt and her three grandchildren, Molly, Abigail and Daniel Pratt.

Barbara attended high school in Stamford, NY and attended Ryder College before moving to Washington DC, where she was hired by the FBI as a secretary during World War II.  She subsequently worked as a secretary for Lord & Taylor in New York City and for the New Haven Railroad in Boston.

A resident of Bradenton since 1951, Barbara was a member of Entre Nous, and  was active on the boards of several arts organizations including the Florida West Coast Symphony, The Manatee Players, and the Asolo Opera Guild.  She was instrumental in the openings of both the South Florida Museum and St. Stephen's Episcopal School by serving as a pro bono secretary.  In later years, she was a generous philanthropist, particularly with organizations supporting wounded veterans.

Barbara was a loving wife, an excellent mother and grandmother, and a loyal friend.  She will be sorely missed by her family.
