B. Jean Williams Bennett

Jean Williams Bennett, 86, of Bradenton, went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 18, 2017.

Jean was born on October 6, 1930 in Ameagle, West Virginia to the late Dr. James Owen and Ada Maude (Rader) Williams. She was a graduate of the Bob Jones University in Greenville, SC where she received her Bachelor of Arts Degree. She went on to study at the University of North Carolina and the University of Texas.

She moved to Bradenton in 1984 coming from New Port Richey, FL, where she taught at Gulf High School in New Port Richey. Locally she taught for ten years at the Bradenton Christian School teaching Spanish. She was a longtime active member of the First Baptist Church of Bradenton where her husband Rev. C. Tom Bennett, Jr. who served as Senior Pastor. She was a member of the choir, Sunday School Teacher of the Adult Women's Class for many years, and was active in many different women's ministries of the church. After her husband's retirement she still stayed active as a minister's wife in the many different ministries of the church, including Northwest Baptist Church in Bradenton where her husband served as interim Pastor for a few years.

Jean is survived by her beloved husband, Rev. Clifford Thomas Bennett Jr. of Bradenton, two caring children; Clifford Thomas (Peggy Dorrance) Bennett, III of Oak Brook, IL, Elizabeth Owen Bennett of Belleview, FL, one sister, Lois Williams Fletcher of Vero Beach, FL, two precious grandchildren, Luke D. and Patricia O. Bennett of Oak Brook, IL, and many extended family members, brothers and sisters in Christ.

The family will receive friends from 10-11 A.M. with a Celebration and Praise service to follow at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, July 24, 2017 in the Memorial Chapel at First Baptist Church of Bradenton, 1306 Manatee Avenue West, Bradenton, Fl. Interment will follow at the Bethany Cemetery in Myakka City, FL.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the First Baptist Church of Bradenton, 1306 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton, Fl. 34205 in her memory.
