Antonio (Tony) Aversa, a long time resident of West Harrison, NY passed away peacefully on Thursday Dec. 14, surrounded by his wife & children at his home in Florida at the age of 85.

Antonio was born on July 29,1938 in Torre de Ruggiero, Italy to Antonio Aversa and Maria Grazia Raimondo Aversa. He met the love of his life, Franca Scopelliti Aversa, while she was working at Woolworths and it was love at first sight. They married on October 1, 1961 and enjoyed 62 wonderful, love filled years together. They were blessed with four children, Antonio Aversa of Pleasantville, NY., Frank (Patricia) Aversa of Cortlandt Manor, NY, Joseph (Cynthia)Aversa of Bradenton, FL and Mary Grace (Michael) O’Hara of Ft. Lauderdale, FL & 17 grandchildren Gianna, Antonio, Antonio, Sarah, Frankie, Alexa, Joseph, Jonathan, Christopher, Justin, Nicolas, Alyssa, Jessica, Kayla, Matthew, Michael and Stephanie and 4 great grandchildren Robert, Joseph, Brody & Tony. Antonio was predeceased by his parents Antonio and Maria Grazia Aversa, brother Mario Aversa, sister Catherine Godino and grandson Michael O’Hara. He is survived by his sisters Giovanna Urbano of Medway, MA, Bruna Barbieri of West Harrison, NY and brother Vittorio Aversa of West Caldwell, NJ

Antonio worked as a mason for over 35 years. He lived his life dedicated to his family. He loved to travel and enjoyed spending winters on the beach in St.Maarten & summers clamming at their summer home in Rhode Island. He was an avid gardener and loved to share his garden tomatoes with everyone. Though he loved all those things, his greatest joy was his grandchildren. He was a gentle, playful and adoring grandfather who loved to take his grandchildren for ice cream, take them on roller coasters at Playland and help build sandcastles at the beach. He treasured every moment with his grandkids and loved being their Papa. We are all heartbroken and will miss him every day.
