Andrea Lucille Booth

'Andi' 63, of Palmetto, FL was born on May 13, 1954 and went to her final reward on June 23, 2017 surrounded by family and loved ones. Though born in NY, she was raised in Palmetto and always considered it home.

She was a much loved mother and The World's Best 'Grandi' as many coffee mugs will attest to. Andi graduated Palmetto High School in 1972, where she made life long friends. She was an artist, avid reader, loved to crochet and Egyptian history. She will be remembered for her infectious laughter and great hugs. To know her was to love her.

Andrea's greatest legacy will be her compassion for others and desire to care for those in need. She started as a candy striper at Manatee Memorial Hospital when she was a teenager. Then as a young woman she was a great stay-at-home mother caring for her children. When she returned to nursing school she impacted lives by helping people improve their hearing while working at Ear Tech. She was so proud of earning her Registered Nursing degree (RN) at 37, that she couldn't wait for the results of her boards and went straight to work back at Manatee Memorial Hospital as a graduate nurse (GN).  She spent her years at Manatee in the Progressive Intensive Care Unit. She was then recruited to be an Assistant Director of Nursing at Heritage Park nursing home. In two short years she was promoted to Director. She spent the rest of her nursing career ensuring the well-being of our greatest yet most vulnerable generation.  Other than a short Hiatus to care for her beloved mother Vera, she spent 24 years nursing. She was recruited by facilities all over the state, earning recognition for her leadership which allowed her to make policies and procedures that improved countless lives.  She mentored many young nurses and her contributions to the Long-Term Care Community in Florida will be felt for generations to come.

Andi had a full personal life as well. She was an amazing cook who was famous for Christmas Feasts.  She was never afraid to try new recipes. Even if those recipes came from a Paul Purdom New Orleans cookbook.  Once she almost burned off the family's taste buds with those spices from New Orleans on our bland Palmetto pallets, but it made for a great memory. 'Don't dip from the bottom' can still be heard around the dinner table if there is a spicy sauce.  She passed down every recipe, tip or trick she could think of to her children. Later in life nothing made her happier than to be surrounded by grandchildren cooking, laughing and making messes. She had special traditions with each grandchild. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents Vera and Jerry Stokich and beloved granddaughter Lena Rogers.

She is survived by her children Sean Rogers, Valerie (Don) Phillips, grandchildren Dallas Phillips, Austin Phillips, Emma Lucille Phillips, Abigail Phillips and Jace Rogers. As well as her cousins who were much more like sisters Lynne (Victor) Menard and Anne (Bill) Lee and their families. As well as her beloved Aunt Lucille Brown.

Her Memorial and Celebration of Life services will be held on Saturday July 1st at 10:00am at Palm View First Baptist Church 415 49th St E Palmetto, FL 34221
The family will greet guests after the service.

In lieu of flowers the family is accepting donations to help with this unexpected tragedy.

Her family is comforted knowing she's home with God and has been made whole again.
