A. Wayne McKinnon, 76, of Palmetto, passed away December 28, 2017
Wayne was born on July 30, 1941 in Dallas, Texas to the late Almer Auburt and Florence Elizabeth (Hobbs) McKinnon. He served his country faithfully during the Vietnam War by serving with the United States Navy.
He moved to the Manatee County area in 1977 coming from Essex Junction, VT. Locally he was the former owner of his own HVAC company in Sarasota for many years, and worked as a restaurant equipment installer.
Wayne was predeceased by a brother Walter Thomas McKinnon and is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Grace Simons of Palmetto, loving son, Matt McKinnon of Bradenton, two sisters; Sarah Gene Gist of Mesquite, TX, Donna K. Cherry of Acworth, GA, one precious granddaughter, Alyssa McKinnon of Bradenton, and many extended family members and friends.
The family will receive friends from 4-5:30 P.M. on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at Shannon Funeral Home Westview Chapel, 5610 Manatee Avenue West, Bradenton, FL with a Celebration of Wayne's life to follow at 5:30 PM. Further services with military honors by the Kirby Stewart American Legion Post of Bradenton will be held at 10:00 A.M on Friday, January 5, 2018 at Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State Hwy 72 Sarasota, Florida.
