Wynona will be buried at Mansion Memorial Gardens in Ellenton, FL on Saturday, April 11, 2015, graveside service at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Richard Nussell will officiate. Family and friends will gather after the service in the Fellowship Hall of First United Methodist Church, Bradenton.
Wynona had been a resident of Chapmans Assisted Living and Healthcare Facility in Alexander City, AL for the last 5 years. She went to meet her Lord and Savior on March 23, 2015.
Wynona was born on June 14, 1926 at home in New Site, AL to Robert Andrew Boyd and Gay Thomas Boyd. She married Jack Gooden in 1946. They moved to Bradenton in 1954. Wynona was an active member of First United Methodist Church, Bradenton. She was a talented seamstress and good cook. She loved to work in her yard, gardening, raising orchids and roses. She worked in several department stores and loved to wait on her customers. She was a loving mother to her four children and a friend to many.
She is survived by her sister, Helen B. Cotney, New Site; sons, Jackie Gooden, Bradenton, Jim Gooden (Kathy) Tallahassee; daughters Ann Combs (Russell) Venice and Gay Hendrix (David) New Site. Grandchildren: Brian Combs, Bethany Croese, Kelly Harris, Jon Hendrix, Lauren Cacciatore, Katelyn Gooden, Jamie Gooden and Jena Harnish. Great grandchildren: Lily Combs, Will Loux, Sophia, Kalani and Ewan Croese, Liam McElroy, Piper Hendrix, Raelynn Harris, Kaley Cacciatore and Jalee Harnish.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Jack, parents, brother Thomas Boyd (Glenda), sisters; Edith Peters (Rufus) and Sue Taylor (Lin) and daughter-in-law Judy Gooden.
Memorial gifts may be given to New Site UMC, 108 Church Road, New Site, AL 36256 for the children and youth.
