Roger Winford Dixon, 70, Bradenton, passed away May 13, 2014.
Roger was born August 26, 1944 in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Harvey and Dorothy (Stepp) Dixon. He was a Vietnam veteran who served with the U.S. Army during Vietnam Era. Roger worked as a machinery repairman for Cummins Diesel in Columbus, IN from which he retired after 32 years of service. Roger moved to Bradenton in 2004 from Columbus, IN.
He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post in Okeechobee, FL, a forty-four year member of the American Legion, the DAV Post in Oneco, and the Loyal Order of Moose in Anna Maria.
Roger was predeceased by two brothers and two sisters, and is survived by his loving wife of 13 years, Louise of Bradenton, son; Douglas Alan Dixon of Hickory, NC, daughter; Lisa Justus of Palmetto, brother; Michael Dixon of De Land, FL, two grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, and many extended family members.
The family will receive friends from 10-11 A.M. on Monday, May 18, 2015 at Shannon Funeral Home Westview Chapel, 5610 Manatee Avenue West, Bradenton, with a service to follow at 11:00 A.M. Interment and final honors will follow at Sarasota National Cemetery.
